Contract negotiations involve give-and-take on a range of topics
Negotiations in the airline industry are complex and lengthy. While both sides try to reach an agreement in good faith, thousands of individual items are discussed, and the company and the union must come to agreement for any one item to end up in the contract. Ultimately, the union, employees, and the business must agree to the contract and all of its parts.
As a result, negotiations involve “give and take” – increasing costs in one area may mean decreasing them in another, which is why for any one item, the end result may be better, worse, or the same as what you have today.
If AFA gets involved in your work life at Delta, the most important aspects of your work experience – pay, work rules, benefits, etc. – would be up for negotiation. This includes A-Days, scheduling, flying flexibility, and pay, among other elements of your existing package of industry-leading compensation, benefits, and work rules.
Despite promises made during a campaign, the only thing AFA can guarantee is that, if elected, negotiations will take place.
