Sergio, a Los Angeles-based flight attendant, joined Delta during the pandemic and a difficult personal time. Though Sergio was concerned he did not come across as a strong employee “on paper”, the compassion and support of his leaders helped him stay on as a Delta flight attendant. With a union, Sergio believes employees may lose out on the benefit of the direct relationship – and personal connection – with leaders.
“[At Delta, I have] the ability to be able to talk to my crewmembers very openly, honestly, being able to speak to my leadership team about any concerns [and] questions I might have. All of that, to me, factored into the creation of the culture that made me fall in love with this company.”
