IAM's 3 Failed Attempts to Represent Delta People

IAM's 3 Failed Attempts to Represent Delta People
This isn’t the first time IAM has attempted to organize Delta employees: it failed to represent Delta people three times between 2010 – 2019:
2010: During the Delta-Northwest merger, IAM lost elections for below-wing, above-wing – including reservations agents – logistics, and others, even though IAM already represented those employees at Northwest.
2015: IAM filed for an election for Delta flight attendants where fraudulent A-Cards were later found by the National Mediation Board. IAM ultimately withdrew its election application.
2018: Between 2018-2019, IAM launched another unsuccessful bid to represent ACS below-wing and cargo agents. It never filed for an election during that effort.
It’s also worth looking around the industry. Despite IAM’s nearly five-year campaign, JetBlue’s ramp and cargo employees voted to reject IAM representation in February of this year. Out of 2,624 JetBlue employees in the workgroup, only 468, or 18%, voted for the IAM.
