AFA negotiations move at a snail’s pace
AFA has promised Delta flight attendants that they can negotiate a first contract within a year of voting to join a union. But when you look at AFA’s recent track record, it’s hard to believe that could be true:
United began negotiations for its contract in December 2021 for a workgroup similar in size to Delta flight attendants. Yet in the 20 months since negotiations began, there are only two sections (out of 34) with a tentative agreement. Two years in, the head of AFA’s group at United says “the real fight" is only just beginning.
At Omni and Air Wisconsin – carriers with significantly smaller workgroups than Delta – negotiations have already surpassed a year, and they are still ongoing.
At Delta, our direct relationship allows us to quickly and effectively provide improvements and an industry-leading package of pay, benefits, and work rules. Don’t settle for anything less. Don’t Risk It. Don’t Sign It.
