It Took IAM Four Years to Negotiate a First Contract for 230 Employees
IAM makes a lot of claims about its ability to quickly negotiate a first contract if it is elected to represent Delta ramp and cargo employees. Here are some facts to consider:
- The last time IAM won an election to represent fleet service workers in the airline industry, it took four years (Aug. 2016 – Nov. 2020) to negotiate a first contract for the 230 employees.
- In the airline industry, negotiations can take years.
- During the negotiations process, there’s typically no improvements to pay, benefits or work rules.
Despite IAM’s misleading assurances, there’s no telling how long it could take IAM to deliver a first contract, especially given the size of our workgroup and the complexity of our operation.
