AFA Claim: Delta added new boarding pay because of the AFA’s organizing effort.
The addition of boarding pay is consistent with Delta’s long-standing practice of offering industry-leading pay and recognition that boarding is becoming an increasingly important part of your job with the addition of more high-density narrow body aircraft. Last year, we tested several ways to improve the boarding experience for our people and our customers and improve our on-time performance. In October 2021, Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta’s S.V.P. of In-Flight Service, committed that we would not implement D-40 without additional compensation beyond what you already receive for boarding. Though AFA is attempting to claim credit for our decision, they have not negotiated boarding pay into the contracts of any airline they represent.

AFA claimed that Delta flight attendants received a pay raise in May 2022 because of AFA’s effort to unionize. This is false.
MAY 12, 2022
Negotiations for workgroups much smaller than Delta’s flight attendants have taken multiple years.

In a recent case with the NMB, AFA advocated to exclude over 80% of Avelo Airlines’ flight attendants from their union election.
