AFA Claim: Flight attendants received a pay raise in May 2022 because of AFA’s effort to unionize Delta flight attendants.
We mentioned in January when we announced profit sharing that our hope was to increase pay rates and return to normal compensation practices for all employees during 2022. The pay increase was well-earned and is the direct result of the dedication, hard work and excellence that our people demonstrate every day. Enacting a pay raise requires considering a range of factors over many months – business forecasts, hiring plans, costs around the business, and more.
Sharing our success is core to Delta’s DNA, and the recent pay increase is another step in that direction. Delta reviews pay every year and we have a track record of raises that – over time – are generally larger than those at peer airlines who have scheduled, but often smaller, annual increases. With this raise, Delta flight pay rates are 6% higher than American at every step and 8-11% higher than United, depending on the step in the scale.

AFA claimed credit for our decision, but they have not negotiated boarding pay into the contracts of any airline they represent.
MAY 12, 2022
We are not aware of cases where AFA has done this for a group as big as Delta’s. Negotiations for much smaller groups have taken years.
MAY 12, 2022
In a recent case with the NMB, AFA advocated to exclude over 80% of Avelo Airlines’ flight attendants from their union election.
