AFA Claim: AFA secured pay raises from United during the pandemic
Reality: This is misleading. United flight attendants received a 2% pay raise in September 2020 because of their 2016-negotiated contract with AFA – but they haven’t had a raise since then and remain 8-11% lower than Delta even after that raise.
United flight attendants received a 2% pay increase in September 2020 because the current United-AFA contract (which became effective in August 2016 after four years of negotiations) included fixed annual 2% pay increases in 2017-2020. However, depending on the step, United hourly flight pay rates are still 8-11% lower than Delta after that raise. United and AFA are currently in negotiations and flight attendant pay has not increased while negotiations are ongoing nor do they have another pay scale increase scheduled.
