Claim: Delta flight attendants’ “incentive program is canceled.”
Reality: This is misleading.
AFA claims that Delta “canceled” its override program for this summer and that this amounts to a “pay cut.”
In fact, the recent announcement about summer schedule values reflects Delta following through on our commitment to invest in our in-flight team, including increasing the total number of flight attendants in our ranks. These investments in the workgroup allow us to maintain monthly schedule values in the 79-80 hour range this summer, which will help provide greater flexibility and quality of work life for the whole team. More control over their schedule is something our flight attendants frequently tell us they value.
The override pay program, introduced in 2019 as a response to high schedule values, is a part of Delta flight attendants’ work rules and would apply if schedule values trend higher.
In addition, Delta flight attendants continue to have higher flight pay than what AFA has negotiated anywhere, not to mention boarding premium pay, Shared Rewards, and more profit sharing. We’re proud of the investments we’ve made to give our flight attendants greater flexibility and quality of work life.
