AFA suggested that those on reserve at Delta don’t fly much.
AFA recently suggested in a media article that those on reserve at Delta don’t fly much. What AFA failed to mention is that all Delta flight attendants are line holders, meaning they have more predictable schedules and fewer “reserve days” overall.
In fact, Delta flight attendants have fewer monthly “reserve days” (0, 3, or 6) than their AFA-represented peers at United (18 or 19). Open flying is covered via the “A-Day program,” which is unique in the industry and was designed by and for flight attendants. This system is built to respect seniority while also providing junior flight attendants with more schedule predictability and earning potential than their peers at other airlines.
With the A-Day program, even the most junior flight attendant can bid for trips pre-month. This means less days of waiting on-call for an assignment and more predictability.
AFA nor any other union has negotiated for A-Days in their flight attendant contracts. In fact, many flight attendants come to Delta for our A-Day program because of the impact it has on their overall quality of life.
Watch your colleagues share why they appreciate Delta’s A-Day program.
