Life with AFA: United Edition
AFA is making a lot of big claims of what life will be like under its representation.
But to understand what life could be like, all one has to do is look at the current situation for flight attendants at United, who are represented by AFA and have been waiting for a new contract since 2021.
- 3+ years of negotiations with no end in sight.
- No pay raise since 2020.
- No boarding premium pay.
- No profit sharing for first year flight attendants.
- 5.29% profit sharing payout for all other flight attendants, less than United pilots (7.89%).
- Full-month reserve of 18-19 days.
- AFA’s grievance process which can take years to resolve cases.
- $600 of annual dues
At Delta, flight attendants don’t have to go through a third party or wait for a new contract to see meaningful improvements.
- Three pay raises since 2022, totaling 14%.
- Boarding premium pay, the first in the industry, adding, on average, an extra 8-10% in pay every year.
- Industry-leading profit sharing, a 10% payout to all eligible employees, including first year flight attendants.
- A-Days Program of 3 or 6 days.
- Delta’s direct relationship that lets all employees raise issues or concerns directly with their leaders – without a third-party or union dues.
