Melissa: AFA isn’t being honest with Delta flight attendants
After taking a break from flying, JFK-based Melissa says she was drawn to Delta after 22 years with AFA-represented US Airways and then APFA-represented American Airlines. In her research, Melissa discovered Delta paid better and offered a better quality of life for new hires.
To her peers who have never worked at a unionized carrier, Melissa says they would be surprised at “how much conflict and animosity there is between the flight attendant group and management.”
She describes the negotiations process for a new contract as “hard, brutal and it takes a long time. I hope we never have to go through that.”
For Melissa, after years with a unionized carrier, Delta’s unique culture is worth protecting from AFA. “The Delta culture is a friendlier, more positive place to be…I love it here.”
